Role Overview – Seasonal Sole Chef, 40m Private M/Y (ASAP Start)
We are seeking a skilled and confident Sole Chef for a seasonal position on a 40m private motor yacht, with an immediate start. You will be responsible for all aspects of the galley, delivering high-quality, guest-focused cuisine onboard and supporting culinary needs at the owners’ private villa when required. The ideal candidate brings solid sole-chef experience on 30–40m yachts, a calm and organised approach, and excellent references that demonstrate reliability and professionalism.
You must be ready to pack and fly this week, slotting seamlessly into an established team and hitting the ground running for a busy private season.
What You’ll Be Working On
You will oversee the full culinary operation: menu planning, provisioning, and execution of diverse, seasonal menus for owners and guests; balanced, nourishing crew food; and high standards of galley organisation, hygiene, and cost awareness. You will collaborate closely with the Captain and Chief Stew to ensure a cohesive guest experience, and adapt your service between yacht and villa environments as required.
Who You Are
You are an experienced yacht chef who thrives in a sole role, confident cooking solo for both intimate family-style service and more elevated private dining. You understand the dynamics of a 40m private vessel, can anticipate owners’ preferences, and remain flexible around changing plans. You are used to provisioning in different ports, working cleanly in a compact galley, and maintaining strong communication with the bridge and interior teams. Above all, you are professional, discreet, and guest-focused, with a genuine love for food and hospitality.

- Prepare and present high-quality guest cuisine, from relaxed family-style meals to more refined private dining as required
- Provide varied, nourishing, and cost-conscious crew meals, maintaining morale and catering to diverse tastes
- Manage provisioning efficiently in different ports and for villa stays, ensuring quality ingredients and budget awareness
- Maintain impeccable standards of hygiene, food safety, and organisation in a compact galley environment at all times
- Coordinate closely with the Captain and interior team to align meal times, service style, and guest experience
- Support culinary service at the owners’ villa when required, adapting menus and logistics to the shore-based environment
- Monitor and manage stock, wastage, and galley inventories, keeping clear records where required by the vessel
- Contribute positively to onboard culture, demonstrating professionalism, flexibility, and a calm, solution-focused approach
- Proven experience as Sole Chef on 30–40m private motor yachts, with multiple solid seasons completed
- Strong, checkable references from captains/owners demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and good character
- Ability and willingness to start ASAP and be ready to pack and fly within the week
- Confident in delivering high-quality, varied cuisine for private owners and their guests, plus wholesome crew food
- Comfortable adapting between yacht and villa environments, with flexibility around changing schedules and locations
- Excellent galley management skills: provisioning, stock control, organisation, cleanliness, and food safety compliance
- Professional, discreet, and guest-focused, with strong communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously within a small team
- Valid STCW, ENG1 (or equivalent seafarer medical), and all required certification up to date
- Right to travel to the yacht’s operating region without restrictions, with valid passport and visas as applicable
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages an advantage
